Molecular and atomic lines have been used for tracing the dynamics, physical conditions and magnetic field in the
neutral ISM. With the huge increase in sensitivity, resolution and mapping speed provided by SKA, these diagnostic capabilities will provide interesting information to better understand the complex structure of the ISM and the process of star and planet formation.
